We have four dedicated and compassionate veterinarians (including one bilingual in Spanish) who stay current on the latest veterinary health techniques and research. Our technicians are trained to assist the veterinarians in surgery, dentistry and veterinary wellness treatments. Our administrative staff provides the absolute best service in scheduling appointments, boarding reservations and grooming. And, our resort staff supervises all play times and doggie day care activities. Dr. Philip V. Mitchell
Dr. Mitchell is a 1988 graduate of the Auburn University School of Veterinary Medicine. He is an active member of the American Animal Hospital Association, Alabama Veterinary Medical Association and American Veterinary Medical Association. Dr. Mitchell was raised on a farm in Mathews located a few miles from Montgomery. He and his wife, Lauri currently live at his old home place. They have two children and six furry kids.
Dr. Robert Speight
Dr. Speight is a 1984 graduate of the Auburn University School of Veterinary Medicine. He is a current member of the American Animal Hospital Association, Practice Advocate for AAHA’s Auburn University student chapter, member of the Alabama Veterinary Medical Association and the American Veterinary Medical Association. Dr. Speight is a Montgomery native. He and his wife, Jennifer, have three children and four furry kids.
Dr. Zeb King
Dr. King is a 2005 graduate of the Auburn University School of Veterinary Medicine. He is a current member of the American Animal Hospital Association, the Alabama Veterinary Medical Association and the American Veterinary Medical Association. Dr. King grew up in north Alabama. He and his wife, Michela, have two children and seven furry kids.
Jessica R. Loch
Dr. Jessica R. Loch is a 2007 graduate of the Auburn University School of Veterinary Medicine. She is a member of AVMA, AAHA and is an active member of the Veterinary Dental Society. She grew up on a farm in Lincoln, Alabama. She and her husband, Stuart, have two children and two furry kids.
Sheila LaRussa (Spanish-speaking veterinarian)
Dr. Sheila LaRussa is a 2019 graduate of the Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. LaRussa was born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico and is fully bilingual in English and Spanish. Her husband Taylor attends Auburn University’s College of Veterinary Medicine and will become a practicing veterinarian in 2021. They have six furry kids - three standard poodles named Mateo, Luna, and Samson; a Siberian Husky named Kuru; a toy poodle named Prada; and a cat named Kitty. Dr. LaRussa’s professional interests include soft tissue and orthopedic surgery, emergency medicine, ultrasonography, and preventative medicine. She is an active member of the Alabama Veterinary Medical Association and American Veterinary Medical Association.
Technical & Administrative Staff
Amanda Cox, Hospital Supervisor
Amanda Cox joined our staff in 2009 with more than 20 years’ vet-tech experience. Her organizational skills and technical experience well qualify her to coordinate the scheduling of five veterinary technicians and maintain the pharmacy inventory in our hospital. Amanda has a special interest in assisting with surgeries and ultrasound and performing dental prophylaxis. She has also been the voice behind our after-hours call center and the “live” person our clients speak with when an emergency occurs. Amanda has seven fur babies and volunteers with several of our rescue groups.
Sam Grier, Office Manager
Sam Grier joined Taylor Crossing’s team in 2008. Prior to becoming our Office Manager, Sam worked as technician for 6 years. She thoroughly enjoys working with animals and has a passion for the “four-legged” furry types which have a special place in her heart. She is a proud owner of 2 dogs and 2 cats.
Ashton Wells, Resort Manager & Dog Trainer
Ashton Hibbs-Wells, Professional Dog Trainer and Behaviorist, has over 7 years dog training and pet resort managerial experience. Her training and behavior programs focus on the dog/human relationship, teaching the human how to successfully communicate with and train their dogs as well as teaching the human to understand how their dog communicates with them.
Lauri Mitchell, Practice Manager
Lauri Mitchell joined TCAH in 2000. She is an Auburn graduate where she earned her Bachelor of Science and Masters of Business Administration. Before joining Taylor Crossing Animal Hospital, she was the Southern Region Marketing Coordinator and representative for a major pharmaceutical company. Her marketing, accounting and human resource skills make her a great fit for overseeing the overall business activity at Taylor Crossing Animal Hospital. She is at the forefront of the success of the practice and provides the staff with the resources needed to successfully perform their duties daily. In addition, she keeps the practice active in community service, scheduling school tours, and providing assistance to shelters within the River Region. Lauri has 2 human children and 4 furry kids.
