Dr. Speight Retirement Announcement

August 03, 2019

Taylor Crossing Animal Hospital, opened by Dr. Mitchell and Dr. Speight in 1990, has been proud to offer the best in veterinary care to the Montgomery area.

What started as a small clinic near a cow pasture has grown into one of the largest and most well-known veterinary hospitals in the area. All of our doctors have established long-lasting relationships with our clients and their pets, and we hope to continue creating and developing those relationships for years to come.

It is with mixed emotions that we announce the retirement of Dr. Robert Speight Jr. on August 31, 2019.

After graduating from Auburn University School of Veterinary Medicine (AUCVM) in 1984, he joined Goodwin Animal Hospital. There he met Dr. Phillip Mitchell, and after working side-by-side for five years, the pair decided to step out to open their own hospital. Within one year, they opened Taylor Crossing Animal Hospital in the middle of what has since become the focal point of Montgomery's growing business industry. Since 1990, our clinic has more than doubled in staff, doctors, size, clients, and services offered; none of which would have been possible without the help of Dr. Speight.

While we hate to see him go, we know he has worked hard for this clinic's success and more than earned his retirement. With his new free time, we are sure he will be spending more time with his grandchildren, attending Auburn football games, and making trips to the beach.

It is our mission to provide your pets with the highest quality of veterinary care. Please join us in wishing Dr. Speight the best in his retirement.

City ordinance required that by 5/4/23, every dog or cat will need a microchip. Visit the article here. Ask us about microchipping!
